Iain is best known as a touring member of 10cc and Jeff Lynne’s ELO, but he is also an artist in his own right. 2017 saw the release of his album The Game Begins With The Lights Out which included guest appearances from Graham Gouldman, Kevin Godley, Sophie Elis-Bextor, Matt Berry and members of The Feeling. The subsequent UK tour supporting his pals from 10cc (he wasn’t yet a full-time member) was well-received and concluded in great style at the London Palladium.
Iain’s latest album, the crowdfunded Fly Away Home was recorded entirely remotely when the world ground to a halt in 2020. Many streams of influence flow through Iain’s music - flashes of classic rock that suggest David Bowie, Elvis Costello and Tom Petty blend with the lush harmony and rich textures of The Beach Boys and Crowded House. It is undeniably pop, but drawn from an era when pop music had a brain, a soul, and a heart.
